Dilution Rates and Application Schedules — The Recommended Starting Point, and Why One Rate Rarely Fits Every Farm
- The recommended general-use dilution rate.
- Why the right rate depends on crop, soil and system.
- How application frequency relates to the irrigation method.
7.1 The Recommended Baseline
OxyDigest®'s recommended general-use dilution rate is 1:15,000 — one part OxyDigest® to 15,000 parts water (for example, 1 litre of OxyDigest® to 15,000 litres of water). This provides a sensible starting point for most applications.
7.2 Why One Rate Doesn't Fit All
Lighter and standard application rates both have their place, and the most appropriate rate for a given farm depends on several factors — crop type, soil condition, irrigation system and operating conditions. For that reason, a single blanket rate applied across very different crops or systems is rarely ideal. It is better to treat 1:15,000 as a baseline and refine from there.
7.3 Matching Frequency to Method
Application frequency follows the irrigation method, as set out in Chapter 5: weekly for drip systems, typically every one to two weeks for pivot and sprinkler systems, and before each cycle for flood irrigation. Because conditions vary so widely between farms, BactiDigest recommends building a dosing plan around your specific crop, soil and system rather than relying on a single fixed rate.
1:15,000 is the recommended baseline dilution, with frequency set by your irrigation method. Because crop, soil and system vary so much, treat it as a starting point and refine into a plan suited to your conditions.
