How OxyDigest® Works — Changing How Oxygen Behaves in Water, Not Just How Much Is Added

In this chapter
After completing this chapter you will understand:
  • What amphiphilic molecules are and why they matter here.
  • How the technology is designed to make oxygen bubbles smaller and more stable.
  • How the same effect is intended to help oxygen-rich water penetrate soil.

3.1 The Molecules Behind the Mechanism

OxyDigest®'s mechanism is built around amphiphilic molecules — molecules with one water-attracting (hydrophilic) end and one water-repelling (hydrophobic) end. This dual nature is what allows the technology to change the physical behaviour of oxygen in water, rather than simply adding more of it.

3.2 Reducing Bubble Size

Amphiphilic molecules reduce the surface tension of water, which allows oxygen to form much smaller bubbles — micro- and nano-scale rather than the large bubbles produced by ordinary aeration. Smaller bubbles have a far larger surface area relative to their volume, so they are designed to dissolve into the surrounding water more completely and more efficiently.

3.3 Holding Oxygen in Solution

Once formed, these smaller bubbles are also more stable. The hydrophobic tail of the molecule interacts with the bubble itself, while the hydrophilic head keeps the structure dispersed and suspended in the water rather than rising and escaping. This is intended to keep oxygen in solution far longer than it would otherwise remain — extending the window in which that oxygen is available to plant roots.

3.4 Improving Soil Penetration

The same interactions that stabilise the bubbles can also reduce water clustering in soil, which is intended to help oxygen-rich water penetrate more deeply and distribute more evenly — including into compacted soils where oxygen exchange is normally very limited.

In Short

The combined intention is water that carries more oxygen, holds onto it for longer, and delivers it deeper into the root zone than untreated irrigation water.

Key Takeaway

OxyDigest® is designed to change the behaviour of oxygen in water — smaller, more stable bubbles that dissolve more fully, stay in solution longer, and penetrate soil more deeply — rather than simply injecting more oxygen that escapes at the surface.
